From The Editor: Top Listings
We’ve had a ball putting together the 2013 issues of athome. From the gardens of spring to the over-the-top photo shoots of our first-ever Best Of Design issue, to tackling a studio addition at my own home, this year was one that reminded me of how much fun the world of design really is—and, every so often, how much work it is to pull it all off. So much goes into making that room, home, or landscape look like it all came together with a snap of your fingers. But when you love design, there’s no staying away from that next project. And when you come up with just the right headline to finish a story, the hours of work it took to produce it seem to evaporate, and you’re ready to begin the next one.
Each year of fabulous design featured in athome culminates in our A-List issue, where the best projects in the area are chosen by a panel of celebrity judges at the top of their fields. Flip to page 38 to see our 2013 winners and finalists—it’s part eye-candy, part largest portfolio review in Fairfield County. Thanks to this year’s panel of judges, including Thom Filicia, Richard Hartlage, Gisue Hariri, Edmund Hollander, Katie Ridder, Peter Pennoyer, Jennifer Post, Vicente Wolf, and our host Eric Cohler and special guest Stephen Fanuka, for making A-List 2013 an incredible night. And to our winners and finalists, thank you for your dedication, your hard work, and your gorgeous projects.
As we come to the close of the year, we’re all thinking about what’s up next in 2014—and for design pros, there’s no better way to make it the best one ever than getting on the A-List. Get those projects ready—we start accepting entries on February 1st at athomefc.com, and we’re looking forward to seeing what you create for our fifth anniversary A-list celebration.
