From the Editor: Live Beautifully

Great design—no matter the size—is always of interest to us at this magazine. We’re calling this our small(er) spaces issue because, let’s face it, Fairfield County’s interpretation of “small” is a little different than most people’s when it comes to real estate. The three houses we’re featuring are designed just right for the families that live in them, whether that means bold color in a summer home on the water, a soothing palette in a space with classic style and gorgeous grounds, or a casual, modern family house in Westport.

If you have a second home—or you want to make your primary one feel more like a great escape—we’ve got some ideas for you in this issue. Try one of the playful wallpapers or printed fabrics starting on page 21, pick from our goods pages starting on page 15, or set aside time to dive into a new book (pgs. 76-77). Small but bold changes can refresh your space, but they also are easy to switch out if you get tired of them.

With the nice weather drawing everyone out, it seems like we’ve been going to more parties than ever this month (check out the photos starting on page 30!), which reminds us...don’t forget to buy your tickets on athomefc.com for our fifth annual A-List Awards gala event on September 11, 2014, at the Stamford Palace Theatre. It’s the most glamorous way to cap off the summer, and a great opportunity to get inspired for upcoming fall projects and network with the who’s who of Fairfield County design.

Kick back and enjoy this issue—and your summer—and we’ll see you in the fall!
