Calling all interior design aficionados; acclaimed architect and interior designer Alan Wanzenberg will be feted at The Glass House in New Canaan on Thursday, May 29th.

At the event, Wanzenberg will share stories about how The Glass House has influenced his work and he will provide guests with an intimate tour of the house.

According to Crista Bazoian, manager of the visitor center and design store, Wanzenberg was inspired by the sparseness of the décor. She even noted that one source of Wanzenberg’s inspiration stemmed from a random bowl of lemons.

“It’s a unique perspective because it incorporates personal anecdotes,” Bazoian said.

This interactive tour and book signing will provide guests with the opportunity to really dig into the details inside the house, which are not reflected on as much.

“There are so many things to learn about. Nothing in The Glass House is there by chance,” Bazoian said.

After the tour, Wanzenberg will be on hand to sign copies of his latest book, Journey: The Life and Times of an American Architect. Journey explores the development of Wanzenberg’s style, and points out the impact the Glass House has had on his style.

The Glass HouseAccording to Wanzenberg’s website, his style conveys a restrained luxury and authenticity that highlights craftsmanship and a high level of design resolution. Wanzenberg also takes into account the regional context and any relevant historical context a home has.

Bazoian promises that this will be an engaging and distinctive occasion for all who attend.
